Ce projet fut présenté au commencement de 1824; mais ce ne fut queplus de deux ans après que parut, en juin 1826, larrêté royal qui ordonnait laformation de cet établissement. Je fus en même temps chargé de mentendre avecM. Walter, inspecteur général de linstruction publique, pour faire un projet à cetégard et un relevé des frais que nous devions faire parvenir à M. Wellens, alorsbourgmestre de la ville. La régence de Bruxelles, de son côté, nous exprima la (1) Almanach séculaire de lObservatoire royal de Bruxelles, 1854. Notes pour servir à lhistoire de lastronomie en Belgique, eten particulier à celle de lObservatoire royal de Bruxelles.
