English: A port beam view of ships underway during exercise BALTOPS '93. In the foreground is the Swedish navy minelayer ALVSBORG (M-02), in the center is the German navy frigate FGS KARLSRUHE (F-212), on the right is the destroyer USS DEYO (DD-989) and on the left is the Russian Krivak 1 class frigate BDITELNY. For the first time in the 22-year history of BALTOPS, the Eastern European countries of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia were invited to participate in the non-military phases of the exercise. |
