Description
Nederlands: Op deze kaart zien we de Spaanse provincie Navarra in Noord-Spanje, een deel van Baskenland en de westelijke Pyreneeën, die het grensgebied met Frankrijk vormen. De kaart werd in 1638 uitgegeven door Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638) en later nog een aantal maal door zijn zoon Joan Blaeu (1598-1673). Hoewel Blaeu in de titel spreekt van het koninkrijk Navarra, Navarra Regnum was daarvan al lang geen sprake meer. Het koninkrijk Navarra was al in 1512 bij Spanje gevoegd.
English: This map shows the Spanish province Navarra in North-Spain and the western Pyrenees, the natural border with France. The map was published in 1638 by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638) and later by his son Joan Blaeu (1598-1673). Though Blaeu speaks in the title of the kingdom Navarra, Navarra Regnum, this was no longer the case. The kingdom of Navarra was already part of Spain since 1512.
