English: A plaque, installed in 1976, reads: “Este pino centenario fue testigo de la victoria de Acentejo el 25 de diciembre de 1495. A su sombra se ofició la primera misa aquel mismo día y de sus ramas colgaran posteriormente una campana porque la ermita que Fernández de Lugo levantó en el mismo lugar carecía de espadaña.” (Translation: “This centenarian pine was witness to the victory of Acentejo on December 25, 1495. In its shadow the first mass was celebrated that same day and from its branches they later hung a bell since the hermitage that Fernández de Lugo built in the same spot lacked an espadaña [high wall with arches at the top of a façade used as a bell tower]”).
