Accession 90-46-A USN Boarding Axe 16"H x 6.5" W

Civil War USN boarding axe with Navy ordnance markings. Boarding Axes were used to clear rigging when boarding a sailing ship and as a general weapon. The use of boarding axes ended with the transition of sailing ships to the age of steam.
