Description Sydney, NSW. Starboard side view of the cruiser HMAS Adelaide. She is shown as completed with four funnels and nine 6 inch guns. The extra gun on the forecastle readily distinguishes her from her near sisters, HMAS Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The mainmast and funnels of the battlecruiser HMS Hood can be seen between the Adelaide's third and fourth funnel and second and third funnels. The Hood was flagship of the Special Service Squadron of the Royal Navy. The Adelaide accompanied the squadron on its return voyage to the UK. (Naval Historical Collection. Print provided by Mr J. Bastock.)
