Description
English: This series of 6 pictures (with 8 images) was taken by Frank Duffin of Belfast, Northern Ireland when working as a freelance photographer in London during the 1970s. The Battle of Lewisham took place on 13 August 1977, when 500 members of the far-right National Front (NF) attempted to march from New Cross to Lewisham in southeast London but were met by various counter-demonstrations of approximately 4,000 people that led to violent clashes.

Source These images were taken by Frank Duffin and formed part of the portfolio he used to help establish himself as a photographer in London in the 1970s. They were digitised by his brother John (Wiki user John Duffin 007) in December 2024.
Author Frank Duffin of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Borne 1944 Ballymena, N. Ireland. Deceased 2015 Marseillan, France. A freelance photographer in London & Dublin he spent his latter working years as a lecturer in photography and media at the Dublin Institute of Technology (a founding college of the Technological University of Dublin, established 2019).
